Chicago, ILDirect HireSalary Range: $110,000 - $140,000The Lead Application Specialist is primarily an individual contributor role focused on working closely with staff across the organization as well as outside vendors to implement, support, and coordinate a range of off-the-shelf technology and data platforms used by various departments. Key responsibilities include ensuring the strategic selection and adoption of new platforms; optimizing the use and integrity of data through effective storage, project management, and reporting.The position will guide technology projects, including documenting business requirements, developing training materials, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), and managing the lifecycle of technology platforms and software applications. As an effective and collaborative liaison between business and technology, the ideal candidate will have experience with a wide range of IT responsibilities, as well as key skills including but not limited to creative problem solving, clear and concise communication, and attention to detail.This role is hybrid with easy access to freeways and public transportation. This role may require occasional travel.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages a portfolio of member- and business-facing software applications and the life cycles of the applications, including our customer management system and related, integrated systems.
  • Maintaining, upgrading, and expanding the scope of existing systems and applications necessary for business operations. This involves project management, business analysis, vendor management, and proactive problem-solving.
  • End-to-end project management of technology projects. Collaborates with business users across the enterprise during the initiation phase by assisting with setting project and feature priorities and defining scope.
  • Develop detailed business & functional requirements, including use cases and user stories.
  • Conducts user acceptance testing (UAT) and end-user training. Interacts with users to better understand their business processes and needs.
  • Receives, screens, and catalogs user requests for new reports and applications or modifications to existing data and applications to determine appropriate priority and response.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots potential issues in collaboration with external service providers and outside vendors. Regularly monitor service perceptions and satisfaction of staff and members.
  • Tracks and tests new technology and new techniques. Oversees the implementation and evaluation of new software products and vendors for business applications.
  • Assists in setting and maintaining technology budget, to contribute to the cost-effective operation of the organization.
  • In conjunction with the Sr. Director of IT, analyze the organization's requirements, determine technology needs, develop implementation plans and timelines, optimize system configuration, integration, and reporting, and train and support the user base.
  • In collaboration with the Information Technology Senior Director, directs and manages all contracted technology services provided by third-party vendors. Partners with business leaders to drive change and/or solve operational and workflow problems.
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors project teams. Recommends project and resourcing strategy. Routinely provide feedback to all stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Performs other job-related duties, as assigned by management.SKILLS & TRAITS WE DESIRE:
    • B.A. or A.A. in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; may substitute for the degree direct applicable work experience on a year-for-year basis which built competencies and subject matter expertise.
    • Demonstrated success in implementing (reporting and automation), integrating, driving adoption, administering, and supporting CRM packaged software solutions (Salesforce, MS D365 CRM, Hubspot, etc.) to support Sales & Operations and enhance data-driven decision-making through effective reporting.
    • Business Acumen demonstrated through effective requirement gathering, impact assessment, communication to a wide range of stakeholders, and documentation of requirements and changes on all upstream and downstream applications, systems, and processes relating to user experience and data integrity.
    • Ownership mindset about your work as demonstrated by self-initiated learning agility and focusing on solving internal and external customers' pain points, ideally before they know they have them. Willingness to wear multiple hats and do what it takes to get the job done.
    • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources; help reconcile conflicts and deconstruct high-level information into precise details and reconstruct low-level information to a general understanding.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and influence without direct authority.Preferred Qualifications
      • Tech savvy with experience implementing and/or supporting a wide swath of technologies including some of the following: an ERP, MS Office, Adobe Suite, LMS, Survey software, data lakes.
      • Project Management experience ideally with demonstrated success working delivering projects on time while utilizing cross-functional PM methodologies or tools (Monday, Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira).
      • Experience in software evaluation and selection process.
      • Experience training users to effectively use systems.
      • Experience supporting a website and the team that manages its content (WordPress).
      • Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel, Google Analytics, and various BI (Business Intelligence) tools like Tableau or Looker for data analysis.
      • Knowledge of the following business functions: customer service, account management, marketing campaign pipeline management, product development, professional services, learning & development, HR, and/or F&A.
      • Previous experience working in a non-profit organization.
